At Tennessee Performing Arts Center, our focus remains on helping to ensure our community of patrons, artists, staff, students, teachers, and volunteers can enjoy safe and memorable experiences with the arts.

- We highly recommend guests 2+ years of age wear a mask when in TPAC venues and not actively eating or drinking
- Patron entry health checks and/or mask requirements may be required on a show-by-show basis

We will continue to adjust health and safety protocols according to recommendations of health and government officials. Additional changes to these protocols will be sent to patrons prior to upcoming performances.
What does this mean for me?
- We highly recommend all guests 2+ years of age wear a mask consistent with CDC guidelines (completely covering the nose, mouth, and under the chin) while inside any TPAC venue.
- Should patron health checks be required for an individual performance, please follow the process below:
- Before entering the venue, patrons 12+ years of age are required to present printed or digital documentation of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, a negative antigen test, or a positive antibody test result administered within 3 days of the performance date. Documentation must include the name of the patron and the date of the test and indicate it was administered by an official testing center, healthcare provider, or pharmacy.
- As an alternative, fully vaccinated patrons 12+ years of age may present printed or digital documentation of their vaccination status, indicating completion of a final dose at least 14 days prior to the performance date. An official vaccination card must include the name of the patron and the date of the final vaccine administered (second dose for Moderna/Pfizer and single dose for Johnson & Johnson).
- A matching ID will be required for all guests 19+ years of age presenting documentation of a negative COVID-19 test, negative antigen test, positive antibody test, or full vaccination status.

Frequently Asked Questions
For most performances, we no longer require proof of a negative COVID-19 test or vaccination. If required by an individual engagement, you will need to bring proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR, a negative antigen test, or a positive antibody test taken within 3 days of the performance time. Date-stamped PCR or antigen tests from an accredited healthcare provider will be accepted.
If required to present a negative COVID-19 test, you have the option of presenting proof of vaccination instead. Someone is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, or two weeks after receiving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. If it has been less than two weeks since your last vaccine dose, you will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, a negative antigen test, or a positive antibody test taken within 3 days of the performance start time.
Should proof of a negative COVID-19 test be required, home tests will not be accepted.
Medical personnel with ReCOVer-Health will be available to check your test results or vaccination status before you enter the building for your performance.
For vaccinated individuals, the verification process includes:
- Matching the name on the vaccination card with your government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or a passport.
- Verifying that you have received one (1) dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two (2) doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
- Verifying that the date of your last dose of vaccination is at least two weeks prior to the current date.
- Verifying that the documentation in all other ways is a legitimate CDC vaccination card.
You may bring your physical vaccination card or a photo of your vaccination card. All guests must present a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport.
For individuals providing a negative test result, the test must be taken within 3 days of the performance start time. Date-stamped PCR or antigen tests from an accredited healthcare provider will be accepted.
Should proof of a negative COVID-19 test be required for entry, we will accept a clearly readable photo of your vaccination card as an alternative. We recommend that you take a photo of your card and store it in your mobile device.
No, vaccination records will not be stored. Should you be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test for entry, you may present physical or digital proof of your full vaccination status card each time you attend a performance at TPAC along with a government-issued photo ID.
Yes, we no longer require proof of vaccination for entry for most performances. Should you be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test for entry to a performance, you have the option of presenting your vaccination card instead. Someone is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, or two weeks after receiving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. If you have only one shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, you must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days of the performance time to attend a TPAC-presented performance or event.
We highly recommend all guests 2+ years of age wear a mask regardless of vaccination status while in TPAC venues and not actively eating or drinking. Masks may be required on a show-by-show basis. At this time, masks are required for all Broadway at TPAC performances.
Masks must be disposable or cloth, well-fitting, and consistent with CDC guidelines (completely covering the nose, mouth, and under the chin). TPAC will provide disposable masks for those who don’t have them. Face shields are not acceptable substitutions for face masks.
Our Box Office opens 90 minutes prior to the performance. We encourage you to arrive as early as you can to allow enough time for ticket scanning, and locating your seats.
Should a patron health check be required, ReCOVer-Health will be stationed at the venue doors to verify your negative test results or vaccination status. After this is confirmed, you will receive a wristband and be allowed entry. To enter the theater, your ticket will be scanned at the theater doors. Ushers will be available to help you find your seat.
Lobbies in the James K. Polk Cultural Center and in the TPAC venues (Andrew Jackson Hall, James K. Polk Theater, Andrew Johnson Theater, and the historic War Memorial Auditorium) do not allow for social distancing. We encourage physical distancing in elevators, restrooms, and other public areas.

We encourage all TPAC guests to take precautions, as recommended by the CDC, to protect themselves and others in public spaces. Please help keep each other safe.
Assumption of Risk
We appreciate your cooperation as we strive to make the guest experience as safe as possible for all. By visiting TPAC, purchasing tickets to and/or attending any event at TPAC or War Memorial Auditorium, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume all the risks of exposure to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. You also acknowledge notice of and agree to follow all facility rules, posted instructions, and protocols. You also agree to notify all guests for whom you are purchasing tickets of the instructions and protocols disclosed here, those that may be made publicly available for the event, and those that may be conveyed prior to your party’s arrival. You acknowledge and agree that you are voluntarily assuming all risks of exposure to communicable diseases and agree to release, waive, and discharge the facility and all related and affiliated individuals and entities, and all individuals and entities involved in the event at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) and/or War Memorial Auditorium (WMA) which you are attending, from all the claims directly or indirectly arising from your visit to TPAC and/or WMA.
